Author Bio:

Starla Huchton released her first novel, The Dreamer's Thread, as a full cast podcast production beginning in August 2009. Her first foray went on to become a double-nominee and finalist for the 2010 Parsec Awards. Since her debut, Starla's voice has appeared in other podcasts including The Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine, The Drabblecast, and Erotica a la Carte. She is also a voice talent for Darkfire Productions, and narrates several of their projects, including The Emperor's Edge series, This Path We Share, and others. Her writing has appeared in the Erotica a la Carte podcast, a short story for The Gearheart (earning her a third Parsec nomination), and an episode of the Tales from the Archives podcast (the companion to Tee Morris and Philippa Balantine's Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences series), which garnered her a second finalist badge from the 2012 Parsec Awards. Her second novel, a Steampunk adventure entitled Master of Myth, was the first place winner in the Fantasy/Science Fiction category of The Sandy Writing Contest held annually by the Crested Butte Writers Conference. Maven was her third completed novel and the first in a planned series of four, being released under the name S. A. Huchton. Nemesis is the second in the Endure series.

After completing her degree in Graphic Arts, Starla opened up shop as a freelance graphic designer focusing on creating beautiful book covers for independent authors and publishers. She currently lives in Virginia where she trains her three Minions and military husband.

Ivy League Blog Tour


 I recently got my copy of Ivy League in the mail, and I haven't had the time to pick it up, but I cannot wait. I've had the opportunity to get to know they author personally, and he is such an amazing person!

About The Author;

 Christopher Waltz was born in Indiana in 1987 and promptly began writing once leaving the womb. While this is a complete lie, Christopher did begin writing around age eight at which point he penned and illustrated a sequel to the film "Jumanji."

Since that time, Christopher has continued writing and obtained a degree in secondary education from Indiana University's School of Education. He currently works with a non-profit organization and writes, hoping to one day be a famous and influential author.

He has recently published his first novella, "Come as you are" on the Amazon Kindle Store and lulu.com.

True Connection. Even before I had the chance to read it, I was in love with the novel. I talk to the author regularly, and over the time of getting to know her, she let things leak from the novel for me. When this blog tour came around I knew that I had to do as much as I personally could to help promote this novel, this author.

True Connection. That is what I had with this novel! There was that connection when I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. With the exception when I had a manuscript of it outside on a windy day, and it blew all over my lawn. Be warned, once you pick this novel up, you will not be getting ay sleep. You'll want to stay awake and finish it because Rachel has written it beautifully and leaves the reader wanting more after each chapter.

When I started to read True Connections I had high expectations for it, and I for sure was not disappointed. Right off the bat I was hooked. The first chapter got me, it made me curious as to what really happened to Jaz and Henry. The story seems to tell itself. I was just there for the ride. If I do recall, I was crying every other chapter. Rachel has made this book an emotional one, but don't get me wrong, I'm a sap. I've laughed out loud, and screamed at a few characters. It is a summers must read novel!



Now for my interview with Rachel

C:Well hello there Mrs. Rachel Walter. I have a few questions that I would like to ask you if you don't mind.

R:Hi Chris! *waves* go ahead, ask away

C:How long have you been writing?

R:Well, when I was in high school I had some issues... And writing was suggested. I started with poetry but sort of failed, at least, I thought I did. So it's been roughly 13-14 years. Didn't start my first novel (True Connection) until 2012.

C:At least you thought you failed at poetry? Was there someone who told you otherwise?

R:A good friend of mine said they were good (I never believed him), but my writing worried him. When I write I get really into what I'm writing. And he thought I was pulling away from everyone around me and putting everything into the poems. So I eventually have up poetry.

C: And by have you mean gave, yes?

R:Yes lol.

C:So, you started writing True Connection in 2012, do you remember which month?

R:February (I think), but I didn't tell anyone I was writing a story until April or May.

C:What was the hardest thing for you, when you first started writing True Connection?

R:At the beginning, when the idea first came to me I had no idea how to start it. I started it seven different ways before something clicked. After that, the absolute hardest thing for me was the title. True Connection was referred to as "Book One" well after the first draft was written.

C:And how long did it take to write the first draft?

R:Five or six months.

C:With kids running around the house, how often did you get the chance to get any writing done?

R:Funny you should ask that, I was just literally talking to a friend about this earlier today. When I started writing TC I mostly wrote at night. Until my 14yo stepdaughter read what I had. Then she would say "can I take 3yo upstairs/outside to play so you can write?" She pushed me to finish the story. Her excitement for it blew me away.

C: It's amazing how the opinion of the rough age group has on your story actually pushes you to get more writing done, more often.

You've done most of your writing at night, how much sleep do you think you lost because of this?

R:I'd say none. Before I started writing as much as I do now, I was reading. I'd read nearly all night an grab a handful of hours of sleep and get up and do it again the next day. I don't read near as often as I did before but I still read a lot .

C:And what was the hardest part, for you, in the editing process?
*I'm grinning wildly* because of the next question I'm about to ask.

R:Show, not tell. Still troubles me. I've read some books (I won't name) that I'd pick spots out and say "that's telling." But I can't do it for myself. Well, I can, but I think in my rewrites I only picked out a handful. I was lucky enough to have help with that.

C:Going back to the previous question, were they proper uses for commas?
LOL!

R:Don't get me started on commas! That's a love/hate relationship. Evil little buggers! Lol!

C:I'm sure everyone would like to know the story on the commas, care to share?

R:Hah. Okay, I'll tell.
These itty bitty things ------> , <----- the comma. We don't get along all the time. I've been known to overuse them, underuse them, and even "why is there a comma there?" use of commas. My other Critique Partner, Emma Hart, wrote me up a cheat sheet to help with most of them. After that I spent three or four days in "Comma Hell." I went through, line by line, checking every sentence. Even if there wast a comma to begin with, just to make sure the commas were placed as properly as I could get them. (No, I haven't checked all comma placements in any of these answers! LOL)

C:LOL!
Just two more questions.

R:Should I be worried?

C:Not at all, or at least I don't think so.

R:*takes a deep breath* awesome.

C:I've read recently that the title of book two has finally come to you, would you mind sharing the title with everyone?

R:I suppose I can do that.
Book Two of The Soul Mate series is titled: Soup Promise

(Autocorrect got me!!)

C:Soup Promise, sounds like it should be an interesting book.

R:Nooooo! Soul! Soul!!! Lol

C: LOL!
Okay, last question.
When are we going to see Soul Promise hit the shelves?

R:I'm in the rewriting process now. (I had well over half written when I started rewriting True Connection, so a LOT needs to change) I'm hoping for early 2014

C: I look forward to that.

When I signed up for the Shades Of The Stars blog tour, I had so much already on my plate that I didn't have the time to read it and have a review ready in time, but I did want to do something. I thought I had signed up for an Author Interview,  but really I just signed up for a promotional stop. I didn't realize this until after I sent a few interview questions to David James. He was kind enough to answer the questions.

Author Interview:

-When did you realize that you wanted to be a writer/author?
From very early on, I realized I had a love for stories. I would stay up late at night reading past my bedtime. Get lost in books. Being an author was always in the back of my mind, I think, I just didn’t realize it until college. And then I began to write and never looked back. 

-Light Of The Moon was your debut novel, but was it your first story?
Yes and no. Light of the Moon was my first completed story, but after its first draft it had a different titles AND a different plot. I finished that original story years ago, put it aside to work on other projects, and picked it up again later. So, yes and no. It was my first, but not really.

-How long does it normally take you to write a novel?
About 3 months or so to finish a draft, and then a long, long time to finish the actual final draft. My edits tend to be very intense, and rewrites even more so, so the end result is always very different from the first. Actually, I suppose it varies. Light of the Moon took longer than my current project, which is a story different from the Legend of the Dreamer series. 

-Why Stars, Kisses, and Curses?
Because stars hold dreams, kisses are magic, and curses are breakable.


-Before you became a published author, who were your inspirational figures?
As far as authors, Maggie Stiefvater has always been an inspirational figure of mine. Holly Black, Libba Bray, Tessa Gratton. I really love authors that are not afraid to take a stand towards certain issues and are as poetic as their thoughts. 


-What can we look forward to from you in the future?
I have Light of the Moon’s sequel, Shadow of the Sun, set to release in the Fall of 2013. I also am working on a new project that I’m really excited about but can’t reveal any information on yet. It’s still young adult, though.



-What are your reasons for going Indie rather than traditional?
Timing. For me it was timing. It was the right time for me to publish Light of the Moon, and so I did. I am very happy with the story, the book, and through my team of designers and editors, I love the finished product. There isn’t much difference these days between traditionally published and indie if you decide to take the proper steps to publication, and for me the timing was right.


-I see your post on Twitter about all of these YA novels that you are reading, what is it that draws you into a book?
The writing, mostly. I like a good story, but if a book doesn’t have beautiful writing, I have a difficult time reading it. 

-What was the hardest part about writing Light Of The Moon, and Shades Of The Stars?
Details. Not only the details of the mythology behind the story, but the details in the writing itself. For me, every sentence has to have a double meaning. Every chapter a hidden message. I like the idea of creating poetry within a story and blended it all together. Getting those key elements to flow together is difficult, but in the end I think it’s rather beautiful. 



-We all seem to have a quote that we live by, what would your quote be?
Probably, "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart."  -William Wordsworth

-For aspiring artists and authors, what is some advice that you can share?
Understand that there is a lot of great advice, but no set rules. For every rule there is one that will delete it. What you need to do is to follow your heart, your passion, and write a story that only you could write. Don’t follow the rules just because everyone else is. That’s not how the world changes. Be the writer who changes it.

-What is it about gummy candy that makes for a perfect writing snack?
Oh, man. I don’t even know but I have bags and bags of gummy candy in my candy drawer. I suppose it’s just the perfect amount of sugar and awesome and sweet. And gummy. Now I want some.

To My Hero Blog Tour









 When I got my copy of To My Hero, all I had to do was read the dedication page. With that page alone I was hooked! Actually sitting down and seeing how Danielle Sibarium went about writing this novel was breathtaking. To use something as simple as a blog of a young girl to tell the story of her hard life, her struggle, and her search for something real. I got lost in the story, because it's a story that can happen to me or you, or someone else that we all know. It's a story that needs to shared for two reasons. One, it's an amazing story and everyone should have the chance to read it, to experience it. Two, because with a story like this out there, it may help out not only young people but everyone who is in a situation similar to Carly.


 

 

 

 

 

Author Bio:

 

 Danielle Sibarium author of For Always and the Heart Waves Series grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Throughout her childhood, she transported herself into a fantasy world full of magic and wonder. Books were the gateway between her play world and reality. On any given summer afternoon she became Snow White sweeping and cooking for the dwarfs, or Cinderella waiting for the prince.

In 2004 Danielle won Honorable Mention in the Southern Heat contest. In 2007 she collaborated with Charlotte Doreen Small to write songs for her CD More. Danielle wrote the lyrics for Take My Hand, and Goodbye, while Charlotte contributed the melody.
